For Latinx and Hispanic Heritage month, we wanted to celebrate how creators dive deeper into their heritage and culture on Meta’s platforms. We were struck by the ways that every person we spoke to has connected to specific traditions from their unique ancestry that speak to them on a cellular level. And how they continue to embrace, reinterpret, and share those ancient traditions in a way that not only fits into modern life, but builds a better future. Like the way the Brujas of Brooklyn reimagine healing practices from their Afro-Dominican lineage with Top 40 beats and a spirit of fun, making healing more approachable for women who might need it. And Xiye Beara brings the foundational values of her Otomi-Toltec Indigenous community to the world stage as a Gen Z Climate activist. We wanted to share the beauty of these stories with the campaign: My Past Is My Future.
